The Calice vase is part of the "Kartell goes Sottsass - A Tribute to Memphis" collection, launched in homage to the movement founded by the Master of design, Ettore Sottsass.
Playful and expressive, these pieces exhibit all the distinctive elements of Sottsass's style: nonconformist, playing with color, overlaying simple geometric shapes, and totemic silhouettes. In 1981, Ettore Sottsass founded the Memphis group in Milan, disrupting the codes of design: giving space to imagination with colorful and eccentric creations. The first Memphis collection had a bombshell effect, and quickly, Memphis became THE subversive brand of Italian design with its extravagant and diverse universe inspired by comics, Pop art, cinema, kitsch, or Art Deco.
