Ballerina is a light-footed female pachyderm with a penchant for ballet. She dances with her partner, a little mouse enchanted by her talent, performing a pirouette atop a golden ball. Two romantic characters dreamed up by Marcel Wanders to animate this poetical music box. The platform on which the duo perform their dance routine houses the mechanism that produces the tune, for which Wanders chose Entry of the Gladiators by Julius Fucík, the well-known melody that heralds the start of circus
shows the world over.
